Your chats and dates never leave your iPhone. ReConCel doesn't keep the chats you import — only the wishes it found dates from. Deleting the app deletes everything it stored. See the Privacy Policy for details.
What ReConCel does
ReConCel reads WhatsApp chat exports that you share with it, finds birthdays and anniversaries in the messages (for example, a flood of "Happy birthday!" wishes), and reminds you before each one. Everything happens on your iPhone.
Importing a chat
In WhatsApp, open a chat, tap the chat name, tap ⋯ (More), then Export chat → Without media → Share → ReConCel. Then open ReConCel — the import runs automatically. Group chats with many members find the most dates. Importing the same chat again later only adds messages that are new since last time.
Import History
Home's Last import box shows your most recent import and what it found. Tap Import History to see every import, newest first. Tap an import to see how many messages were new, which contacts and events it added or updated, and a link to each event. If an import failed or didn't finish (for example, the app was closed while it was asking for countries), share the chat from WhatsApp again.
How sure is each date?
Each detected date has a colour: green means high confidence, orange medium, and red low. Tap an event to see the wishes it was found from. If a date is wrong, open the event and tap the pencil — dates you correct or add yourself are never overwritten by later imports.
Reminders
You get a reminder at 6 pm the evening before and at 9 am on the day. From a reminder you can message the person on WhatsApp, call them, or choose "Edit if Not Correct" to fix the date. Reminders need notifications to be allowed in iOS Settings.
You
ReConCel finds your own birthday too and shows it as "You". The first time you import, it asks which chat sender is you — tick every name you appear under. If you show up as a separate contact later (for example after changing your WhatsApp name), press and hold that contact and choose "Mark as Me" — it's merged into You. Editing yourself never stops it being You; to remove a name that isn't you, edit yourself and swipe it away.
Merging contacts
If the same person shows up as two contacts, Contacts → Merge Suggestions lists pairs whose birthdays or anniversaries match. A merged contact shows both names, like "Priya Sharma / Priya S", and stays merged when you import again. Renaming a contact doesn't affect how it's matched in future imports.
Countries and time zones
Wishes from another country can arrive a day early or late in your time zone. After an import, ReConCel asks for the country of contacts it doesn't know yet so it can work out the right day. You can change a contact's country any time by editing the contact.
